PMMA – Polymethyl Methacrylate (Acrylic)

PMMA, often known by trade names such as Plexiglas® or Acrylite®, is a transparent plastic with excellent optical clarity and UV resistance. It is a popular alternative to glass due to its low weight and ease of processing.

  • Easy to polish
  • Good dimensional stability

Disadvantages

  • Lower impact resistance than PC
  • Scratch sensitive
  • Poorer resistance to some solvents
  • Higher brittleness
